Gallery West Residences is an upscale residential complex in Kebon Jeruk (West Jakarta) that consists of one tower of 31 floors, for a total of 280 units. Built in 2018, it was developed by the group AKR Land.

I visited it while it was still under construction (just weeks before completion) and here is my review of it:

Location

Location of Gallery West Apartments in Jakarta

Gallery West Residences is located in Kebon Jeruk, a mostly middle-class neighborhood with several housing complexes and apartments. Its location is rather strategic, next to the highway Jakarta-Tangerang, and between Puri Indah and Taman Anggrek. Along this axis, there has been some recent development, for instance AKR Office Tower, Veranda Apartments, Siloam Hospital, or Metro Park to name a few.

TransJakarta: Kebon Jeruk Halt (400 meters away) has the line 8 going from Harmoni to Lebak Bulus

Toll Road:
Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road is only 700 meters away.

Malls:
There aren’t any malls nearby but, within 10-15 minutes, you can reach several ones in Taman Anggrek (Central Park, Neo Soho, Mall Taman Anggrek) or in Puri Indah (Lippo Mall Puri, Puri Indah Mall, Pavilion Px).

Taman Anggrek Mall: Middle-class mall, quite popular, with an ice-skating rink on its last floor. It also has a cinema and a gym.

Central Park Mall: Another middle-class mall, popular with young people, with an outdoor area (called Tribeca Park) and a large number of affordable fashion shops (Sogo, Mango, Guess, Marks and Spencer, Pull & Bear, Topman, Stradivarius, H&M, etc.). Also a cinema, a supermarket, a gym, cafés, restaurants, bars, salons, banking and travel services, etc.

Neo Soho: A new mall, it is not too crowded at the moment and the main attraction there is an aquarium. There are also dozens of restaurants. Neo Soho Mall is connected to Central Park Mall through a tunnel and through a skywalk.

Puri Indah Mall: A large mall targeting the upper-middle class with many popular brands (fashion, sports, accessories, beauty, kids, home, etc). It has a Metro department store, a XXI cinema, a Hero supermarket, a Celebrity Fitness gym, and an F&B area.

Lippo Mall Puri: This new shopping center, near Puri Indah Mall, is more upmarket and trendy. It has Sogo and Parkson department stores, a FoodHall supermarket, fashion stores like H&M, Forever 21, Uniqlo and Zara, a XXI Cinema, and a Fitness First gym. It also has a good selection of restaurants and cafés.

Px Pavillion: Upmarket boutique mall, just opposite Lippo Mall. It has a Gold’s Gym, a Ranch Market, a bookstore and several cafés/restaurants.

Supermarkets:
The nearest supermarkets are 10 minutes away by car:
– Ranch Market in Pesanggrahan
– Food Hall in Prisma Kedoya Permai

There is also a Family Mart (convenience store) in Gallery West.

Food and Nightlife:
There are a few coffee shops (including Starbucks) and a small restaurant (Pappa Jack) inside AKR Tower, just a few minutes walking distance from Gallery West. For anything more sophisticated, you should go to Puri Indah or Taman Anggrek.

Education:
There is a wide choice of educational facilities in this part of Jakarta, partly due to the presence of a large, wealthy Indonesian Chinese community. Most schools are quite expensive and Christian.

Developer:
The developer was AKR Land, a subsidiary of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk which is a large conglomerate mainly involved in the oil & gas sector.

AKR Land has limited experience so far as a developer. Apart from Gallery West, it has also built Novotel Bali Nusa Dua, Wisma AKR, and AKR Signature Gallery in Surabaya.

Architect:
The architect of Gallery West Residences was the consultant firm Ark Design. It is a medium-sized local company involved in midrange and upscale projects like Central Park, Casablanca Mansion, Executive Menteng Apartments, or Nusa Dua Sofitel.

Contractor:
The main contractor was Tata Mulia, a large company that has constructed some prestigious buildings in Jakarta, such as the Gama tower (tallest tower in Indonesia), Four Winds Senayan, the Ananamaya Residences, and the Four Seasons (tower 3).

Land Certificate:
Strata Title di atas HGB Murni (full ownership)

Building Quality
I considered several factors such as the design, the quality of the finishes (paint, attention to details, etc), and the materials used (tiles, pipes, concrete, lights, doors, windows, furniture, artwork, etc). I’ve ranked each area of the property from 1 – worst – to 10 – best.

Upmarket building, with the standards equivalent to a modern 4-star hotel.

Maintenance:
The property was very new so it doesn’t need maintenance yet.

I found it was clean.

Security:
– Guards: There are 24/7 guards at the main gate and near the lobby entrance.
– CCTV cameras: In the lobby, elevator, and some common areas.
– Access: You need an access card to go to your unit
