Capitol Park is a large complex featuring 1,502 apartments split between two towers (Sapphire and Emerald). Opened in 2015 and located in Salemba Raya, in Central Jakarta, it is convenient for anyone who wishes to live near from Cikini or Menteng.
It is also at a reasonable distance from Jalan Sudirman (less than 20 minutes with normal traffic conditions). A third tower might be built in the future, but for now, there is just an empty space right at the entrance of the complex. It is not really well-maintained and neat in that area, unfortunately.
I stayed 3 nights in Capitol Park, in one of the studio rooms. My first impression was that the residence didn’t seem very busy even though there are more than 1,500 units. I would guess that the occupancy is still low at the moment.
Another aspect of Capitol Park that I didn’t like is that there is not much to do just outside from it. It is bordered by several hospitals (Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo, Rumah Sakit Saint Carolus) and universities (Gunadarma, Universitas Persada Indonesia), but not a big mall. The closest one would be Grand Indonesia (15 minutes away).
For entertainment (cinema), you can go to Metropolitan XXI or Taman Ismail Marzuki Art Center. An important thing to note is that you can access Capitol Park Residence from two streets (Jalan Salemba Raya OR Jalan Salemba I).
Public facilities of Capitol Park are quite nice, especially the swimming pools. There are two of them between the towers, and another one, resort-style, on the side of the Emerald building. It is really long and you get plenty of space for swimming.
There are also two jacuzzis (not heated), a small basketball court, a children playground, a garden with a BBQ grill and a gym with brand-new equipment. Shops and services are limited: There isn’t a coffee shop or a restaurant within the residence, only an Indomaret convenience store.
The overall condition (maintenance and cleanliness) of the property was good, except for the ground at the entrance of Jalan Salemba Raya which looks like an abandoned parking lot. I also thought that the lobby looked boring: They could probably improve the atmosphere to make it more welcoming.
Prices at Capitol Park may vary greatly depending on the floor, the unit type, the room condition and the furnishings. Here are estimates taken from online ads:
Studio Type (23m2 to 28m2) – Furnished:
- Rental: IDR 5M to IDR 6M per month
1-Bedroom Type (43m2 to 46m2) – Furnished:
- Rental: IDR 8M to IDR 10M per month
2-Bedroom Type (86m2) – Furnished
- Rental: IDR 12M to IDR 14M per month
- Great swimming pools
- Entrance possible from both Jalan Salemba I and Jalan Salemba Raya
- Next to the Transjakarta Carolus/Salemba Station (reachable through a pedestrian bridge)
- The entrance on Jalan Salemba Raya and the lobby do not look prestigious
