Oakwood Premier Cozmo is a luxury serviced apartment in Mega Kuningan. Completed in 2008, it features 197 units on 40 floors, with monthly prices starting at approximately US$3,000 for a 70m2 apartment.
It is quite popular with younger expats, businessmen, and travelers, due to its perfect location in the business district of Jakarta and in the heart of a vibrant nightlife area. In particular, it is walking distance to famous bars like Loewy, Basque, and McGettigan’s.
I visited this property in 2020 and here is my review with photos:
You can read their brochure here: Oakwood Jakarta
Oakwood Premier Cozmo is managed by Oakwood Worldwide, an American hospitality group specialized in serviced apartments, with currently over 80 branded properties around the world. Most of them are located in Asia (75%), while the rest is in the US (20%) and Europe (5%).
In Jakarta, they also manage Oakwood La Maison and Oakwood Residence in PIK (part of Gold Coast Apartments).
Rooms & Prices
Below are a few pictures I took from a Deluxe 1-bedroom unit. As you can see, while it is comfortable, it is not brand-new.
1 Bedroom Deluxe – 70m2 – Starting at US$3,000 per month
1 Bedroom Executive – 100m2 – Starting at US$3,400 per month
2 Bedroom Deluxe – 133m2 – – Starting at US$3,700 per month
2 Bedroom Executive – 145m2 – No price available
3 Bedroom Deluxe – 160m2 – No price available
Normally included in the price: Utilities (water and electricity), Wifi, delicious buffet breakfast (continental and Asian), daily housekeeping (with bed linen changed twice weekly).
Note that the price can be negotiated if you contact them directly. They may offer you a discount if you stay at least for a year, or if you cut back on some of their services (no breakfast for instance).
All the units have a kitchen equipped with an oven (quite rare in Jakarta), a fridge, a microwave, cooking utensils, a toaster, a boiler, and a coffee machine. One thing I didn’t like was that they have old electric stoves that are not so practical for cooking.
There is also a washer/dryer, a flat-screen TV with cable channel, a home theatre, a telephone line, the WIFI, and an iron board.
If you plan on working from your room, don’t choose the 1-bedroom Deluxe as it doesn’t have a study desk.
The master bedrooms have a very comfortable king-size bed (200cm X 200cm) while the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have a queen-size bed (160cm X 200cm). Great linen and mattress.
Facilities and Services
– Swimming pools (for kids and adults), a bit too short for swimmers in my opinion. You also have a (non-heated) outdoor jacuzzi and a small café where you can order drinks and food from the main restaurant. In the evening, this area can be a bit noisy as you can hear the music from nearby bars (especially Basque).
– 24-hour gym with a sauna
– Restaurant and bar with room service from 6 AM until 11 PM.
– Retail area with a high-end supermarket (Ranch Market), a pharmacy, ATMs, a Starbucks, some restaurants, and the trendy restaurant Loewy. That’s a huge advantage compared to other serviced apartments in Jakarta.
– 24-hour reception with concierge service
Other facilities and services available:
– Meeting room
– Playroom for kids
- Jakarta Airport (CGK): 45 minutes
- Grand Indonesia Mall: 20 minutes
- Sudirman Business District: 10 minutes
- Kota Tua: 60 minutes
- Kemang: 30 minutes
Oakwood Premier Cozmo is in Mega Kuningan, one of the most strategic and upmarket neighborhoods in Jakarta. It is a favorite of many expats, especially those who don’t have kids (those ones prefer Kemang or Pondok Indah, near the best International schools).
It is a modern area, very expensive, with 5-star hotels (Ritz-Carlton, Marriott), embassies, luxury condominiums, trendy bars and restaurants, and prestigious offices. It is perfect for those who want to have an active social life and meet fellow expats. Something enjoyable (and rare in Jakarta) is that you can go anywhere within Mega Kuningan by foot: There are decently-maintained sidewalks, lined with gardens and palm trees.
At the heart of the Golden Triangle, Mega Kuningan is also in a fantastic position within Jakarta. After just a short car ride, you can access many famous landmarks including dozens of major office towers, malls (Bellagio, Lotte Avenue, Pacific Place, Ambassador, Kuningan City), schools, universities, hospitals (Siloam), hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs.
The downside of Mega Kuningan, in my opinion, is that the whole area lacks authenticity. You won’t find a lot of street life around, particularly street food, as opposed to the nearby neighborhood of Setiabudi for instance.
Traffic within Mega Kuningan is generally fairly easy. If your office is within its limits, then it’s great for you as you’ll be able to go there in no time.
The real difficulty is to enter or exit Mega Kuningan, especially if you plan to go to the South. Crossing Jalan Gatot Subroto means you will need to make a long U-turn, in an often congested road. To a lesser extent, you have a similar issue going North as you will need to make a U-turn on Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio.
For these reasons, don’t be fooled by the distance. Even if your office is only 2 kilometers from Mega Kuningan, it may easily take 20 minutes to get there.
If you don’t own a car, finding an Uber, a Grab or a taxi is extremely easy.
Public transportation is quite limited. The Transjakarta lines 6C and 6E may be useful to some as they make stops not too far from Bellagio Residence (in front of The East Building and Menara Prima). These routes go from Stasiun Karet until Stasiun Tebet.
