Ambassade Residence is a tower in Setiabudi offering affordable accommodation for executive and expats. It has a reasonably sized swimming pool, a boutique atmosphere and a central location just 200 meters from Jalan Rasuna Said.

I stayed there for a few days in September 2017 and this is my review about it.

Location

The location of Ambassade Residence is excellent for anyone working in Kuningan or in Setiabudi. It is within a short distance from several major roads such as Jalan Rasuna Said, Jalan Prof Dr. Satrio and Jalan Sudirman. It is also near from several embassies and consulates (Malaysia, Greece, Russia, UAE, etc).

There are large malls nearby, including Kuningan City, that can be reached by foot (5 minutes). A little further away, you can also go to Lotte Avenue, Pasar Festival, Epicentrum, ITC Kuningan and Mal Ambassador.

For food and beverage, apart from the dozens of cheap warungs just outside the residence, you can visit the Setiabudi One building (5 minutes by foot). There, you will find around 40 proper restaurants and coffee shops (among which Burger King, Anomali Café, Pizza e Birra, Starbucks, etc). In Setiabudi One, a Daily Food supermarket can be found too with a reasonable choice of imported and fresh products (very pricey, though).

Facilities

The facilities of Ambassade Residence are quite limited at the moment, unfortunately. It might be because it is a relatively small property (and a new one). Anyway, what I missed the most was not having a proper minimarket or a coffee shop. For that, you will need to walk at least 300 meters.

There is a swimming pool, a bit tiny if you are a real swimmer but enough to freshen up. The gym is small too, but it has the essential equipment.

Atmosphere

Ambassade Residence seems more appropriate for single executive or for young people without children as there isn’t much of a common area apart from the small garden around the swimming pool.

The overall atmosphere was quite pleasant, very relaxed, and with a “boutique” feeling. In particular, the friendly staff will be quick to know you and recognize you after only a few days. Since the residence is bordered by a local, low-income neighborhood, you don’t get the impression of staying in a too westernized area of Jakarta. You can easily walk in the gangs and talk to Indonesian people, which is really nice in my opinion.

Finally, beware that there is a new tower being built right next to Ambassade Residence so it is a little noisy, especially during the day. You can also hear the nearby mosque quite well!

Prices at Ambassade Residence may vary depending, among other things, on the floor, the unit type, the room condition and the furnishings. Here are estimates from online ads:
